About Me
Marcella Leonard-Jackson is a screenwriter and producer whose work spans children’s comedy, drama, and socially conscious storytelling. Her half-hour pilot Curl Gurl earned an Official Selection at the Legendary Film Festival, marking one of her most celebrated achievements. She has collaborated with industry figures such as Emmy Award–winner Richard Hawkins, on-set Creative Producer of Netflix’s Longmire, Emily Thomas, 2021 Sundance Episodic Lab fellow and screenwriter of The Evening Hour, Elizabeth Palmore, and WGA West Writer’s Access Project honoree and screenwriter of The Little Mermaid II, Elise D’Haene.
Marcella graduated summa cum laude from Point Park University with a BFA in Screenwriting and a minor in Entrepreneurship. During her time there, she script coordinated, edited, directed, and produced a number of student films. She now teaches English at Cristo Rey Richmond High School while continuing to develop her own projects.
Her writing consistently prioritizes racial representation and frequently engages with pressing social issues. She is especially drawn to stories that examine class, family dynamics, and the nuances of love and relationships.
